The world’s football federation body FIFA has had announced the suspension plus fine placed on Argentina, following the clash against Spain in the just concluded 2026 WorldCup final. The punishment was placed and confirmed as discipline following the post-match confrontation between Argentina and Spain.
FIFA fines the football federation (AFA) $321,000. The charges is stated as follows, Tam’s misconduct, discriminatory chant and gesture by supporters, security and order violation, and non-sporting demonstration.
FIFA also imposed individual fines and ban on some Argentine player and official, which are, Thiago Almada, Leandro Paredes, Nahuel Molina and Roberto Ayala. See punishment and fine as stated, below
AFA next two matches are limited to 50% capacity plus $321,000 fine to be paid. Out of the $321,000, The sum of $100,000 must be invested in an anti-discrimination plan.
Thiago Almada to get one match ban plus $30,000 fine
Leandro Paredes to get 10 match ban plus $90,000 fine
Nahuel Molina to get 7 match ban plus $90,000 fine.
Roberto Ayala to get 3 match ban plus $30,000 fine.
The suspensions based on national team matchs, is a heavy blow to Argentina following the heated scene against Spain after the 2026 FIFA Worldcup final.
