What do you think about this man’s statement, talking about how his friend discouraged him from not empowering his wife with financial support after giving birth. He claimed to have interest of placing his wife on a salary plan after she gave birth to their child. Read below
“After my wife gave birth, she had given birth to twins at the time. She was working as a secretary in a firm, but because of her pregnancy and the nature of her job, she was given leave to return three months after delivery.
Fortunately, she gave birth to twins, and going back was not easy because she really needed to stay at home and tend to the kids. Being someone who always had her own money, I thought it wise to place her on salary so that whenever she wanted to buy something for herself or eat what she desired, she could easily get it.
But the mistake I made was discussing this idea with some close friends at work.”
He later stated that how he opened up to his friends, telling them his plans of placing his wife on Monthly allowance. “Guys, is it really bad if I place my wife on salary, seeing that she just gave birth, and will need money at hand?” He told his friends
According to him, his friends saw the idea like a mistake and their reaction wasn’t cool. Especially one of his friends who snapped immediately he told them. “Salary for what? Why would you give her a salary? Is she not your wife? Is she your housemaid?” The friend responded
And the man who knows the importance of supporting his wife but not sure if he should do it or not, reacting and told the friend “No, but I’m just thinking… This is someone who has worked all her life. Now she’s stuck at home with the babies. At least she should have something to hold on to.”
After saying this, another friend of his, responded accusing the man of being one of those making women act wrongly. He said,
“It is you people that empower women. When you start this now, tomorrow she’ll go and tell my wife, and that one will start disturbing me. My brother, don’t start what you cannot finish. If you give her money for the house, that’s enough. Let her manage herself till she resumes work.”
After the whole talking ideas of his friends, filling his head, he said “He thought about it deeply and concluded that maybe they were right” and decided not to place her on the monthly salary anymore.
He said he got carried away or too relaxed with the wife’s ability of being independent since they met, she has been the kind of woman who doesn’t know how to ask.
He also stated that “One evening, I returned from work and went into the bedroom. My wife had already ironed and arranged my clothes for the next day, as she always did, the twins were asleep in their cot, and she was in the kitchen preparing dinner.”
He said this got him rethinking about his decision of placing her on monthly allowance since her life her suddenly become a full time sit at home mom, for the sake of her condition and the newborn babies.
Then while he was trying to step into the bathroom to freshen up, then come back to speak with his wife, he heard the wife’s phone ringing. he said at first he lose interest on the call, but when he heard the voice of his wife slowly echoing into his ear saying “No No, my husband just came back I will call you later”. He got curious and decided to be sure of what he was hearing.
“Then I closed the bathroom door like am already in the bathroom, then I started tip toeing towards the kitchen. And I was going closer I realised she was talking to a man. I didn’t hear what the man said but I suddenly heard my wife saying, “what else do you want sir, my husband is happy with the kids, I don’t know what else you want”
“Then I quickly walked up to her and grabbed the phone, and asked her who was she talking and what where they talking about.” The person quickly hanged up immediately he hear my voice. He continues “Immediately I noticed the person has hanged up.”
“then I had to go to my wife call logs, take the phone, hopping to dail it and to my surprise, I have the number and It was one of my long time friends.” He added.
He continued with tears, ” This guy was the first person that congratulated me when my wife gave birth, saying he called because someone just told him my wife just went into labour. With the joy I had with me then, I didn’t burder to ask him who told him or how did he know. In my head at that time, he’s just one of the well wishers”.
Later on, he stated that after all interrogations, the friend confessed that the reason he has been calling his wife is because he wife and the doctor In the hospital the wife was put to bed, have been having some romantic affair and he knew because the doctor happens to be his friend but refused to tell the husband, but rather kept it as a weapon to take advantage on the wife, demanding cash and bed times with different conditions and threats.
“Now am angry, I don’t know if I should kick my wife and the twin out, or I should just wait until the are grown enough for DNA Test.” He asked.
He also stated, “And for the guy, he has been arrested by police for disturbing my wife, but we couldn’t arrest the doctor because denied and my wife denied having affair with him”
