After the success of Gongo Aso and a successful first studio album, 9ice had started working on second album, but hopping to have 2baba to feature in it
The producer and team member then ‘ID Cabasa” reached out to 2baba who was the rave of the moment then and got a little bit of belief to have him on a record after fixing up the date for recording.
The beat, the chorus and 9ice verses were ready, left is 2face’s verse. 9ice and 2phat had a big doubt that 2baba will show up, but the producer (ID Cabasa) had a strong believe that he will show up.

After hours of waiting and the day started turning dark, 9ice began to doubt, devastated saying things like “it’s because I never blow enough though”, then went to ID Cabasa suggesting to arrange some money for 2face Idibia maybe that’s y he has not come yet, “let’s arrange money for 2face. We understand he is big” he said to ID Cabasa. Then 2Phat added more pressure to Cabasa’s believe supporting 9ice’s suggest to send some money to 2baba, in his word, “Idowu (Cabasa’s name), I agree with 9ice, let’s arrange money and send to 2face” he said.
At a point Cabasa almost fell for the pressures, but even with the sun down, ID Cabasa still had a very strong believe that the music giant won’t turn him down, “I say NO, 2face will come, what’s you people’s problem. It’s 2Baba we are talking about, he will come” he said with an attitude telling everyone in the studio to calmdown and trust his words.
Everyone lost interest thinking 2baba will never show up as Cabasa had strongly believed, and everywhere became very silent with everyone going back to what they were doing.
Just around 10pm, the rave of the moment finally showed up! He said, “I have been at home since morning, I only intentionally didn’t show up early. I am here now, let’s record!”
For a while 9ice still in shock that 2baba actually honoured his invite to come record with him, “Has my street cred so much increase that 2face is honouring me without any payment?” He said.
While the producer ID Cabasa was preparing the beat, out of nowhere, 9ice sang out of his heart “I am the most incredible, out of 9ja, straight from 9ja…
Street Credibility…
2baba heard the lines and asked the producer where’s the beat to that song.
2face said, wait, repeat what you just sang again…. And 9ice repeated it.
“Cabasa, where is the beat?” 2Baba asked, “This is not the song we are planning to do”, Cabasa replied, “Give me a beat to this chorus first”, 2face insisted.
Cabasa played the beat and 2Baba right there, got what he needed to nailed a successful song.
Then 2baba did a verse for the beat
“As I come here before you
Ah go talk am as I see am
Ah no go use any sugar cover am
Call me a Mallam
I know you understand am…
I no dey stress am
No dey use gra gra do am”
After that verse from him,9ice sang the song he was singing from his mind, It blends with 2face’s verse, and that was it.
“Okay, can we develop this… It’s looking dope already” Cabasa said
They did and eventually abandoned the original song which they intended to collaborate on and we never heard about the song.
The song was released with the title STREET CREDIBILITY, every listeners connected to it and it became a massive hit in Africa. Till today, Street Credibility remains one of the greatest song outta Nigeria and Africa.
